Background Information

Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5A (STAT5A) is a transcription factor involved in a wide array of cellular processes, including cell survival, proliferation, invasion, angiogenesis, and immune evasion. It is frequently overexpressed in various human solid tumors and hematological malignancies. While STAT5a/b are well-established regulators of nuclear gene expression, they also possess non-genomic functions. Studies using enucleated cytoplasts have revealed a nongenomic mechanism by which STAT5a/b knockdown can elicit cystic changes in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) structure, highlighting roles beyond direct transcriptional activation.
