Recombinant Human IL-23 Protein, CYT-Q9NPF7

Product Introduction

Interleukin-23 (IL-23) is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit of IL-12 that is disulfide-linked with a p19 subunit unique to IL-23. IL-23 interacts with IL-12R¦Â1 and a ¦Â2-like receptor subunit with STAT4 binding domain, IL-23R. IL-23 is secreted by activated dendritic cells and is involved in the inflammation process and associated with autoimmune diseases. IL-23 induces proliferation of memory T cells, induces moderate levels of IFN-¦Ã, and is produced by naive and memory T cells. IL-23 plays an important role in stimulating memory T-cells, and is required for the induction, expansion, maintenance, and downstream effector functions of Th17 cells, which play a vital role in upregulating neutrophil chemokines and various pro-inflammatory cytokines. IL-23 interacts with the receptors IL-12R¦Â1 and IL-23R to activate the Jak-Stat signaling cascade. IL-23 has been shown to possess potent anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activity in mouse models of cancer, suggesting a potential role for IL-23 in therapeutic research.

FAQ (Simplified)

Q1: What is the structure of IL-23?

A1: IL-23 is a 53.5 kDa heterodimeric protein consisting of two subunits: p19 (170 amino acids) and p40 (306 amino acids), disulfide-linked to form the biologically active cytokine.

Q2: How does IL-23 function in immune responses?

A2: IL-23 plays a central role in the induction, expansion, maintenance, and downstream effector functions of Th17 cells, which upregulate neutrophil chemokines and various pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Q3: What is the difference between IL-23 and IL-12?

A3: IL-23 and IL-12 share the p40 subunit, but IL-23 contains a unique p19 subunit rather than the p35 subunit found in IL-12. Both interact with IL-12R¦Â1, but IL-23 signals through IL-23R rather than IL-12R¦Â2.

Q4: How should I store this product?

A4: Store at -20¡ãC. Refer to the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis for detailed storage and handling instructions.
